Joe introduced Rich and me at Wrightsville Beach during an afternoon break between 7's games at the 1980 Cape Fear Rugby tournament. He continued to be a close friend and regular guest at our East Blvd home. He always had a smile on his face and cheer in his voice. Joe was a great friend and never imposing. He will be missed.

I will miss seeing Joe. Never heard a negative comment from him. On one Atlanta rugby trip Joe and I had to wake Cordle to get Dixon off the hook with hotel security for peeing in the bushes. Very funny!

To the family and all the friends of Joey Tompkins. We were blessed to have known him! He was a friend to all! So many memories that we all cherish! My prayers are with everyone, but particularily with the family! Joe will be sorely missed, but we can all take comfort that he is in a better place, free from pain and suffering! I look forward to seeing him again some day! God Bless and confort everyone!(To the family...I first met Joey some 13 or 14 years ago at The Press Box. I have been on several golf trips with him and he was my bunkie, "roommate", everytime. We had a lot fun together, even thought his jokes were terrible most of the time.
