A truthful and honest person. I "grew up" in my legal career with Judge Grist. My condolences.

Bill and Larry...I sat yesterday at 11:00 a.m. at my desk praying and thinking of you both and your families. When I arrived at my church office I opened the SouthMeck e-mail informing me of your Dad's death. I had planned to attend your father's funeral and to see you two characters, but had a trajedy occur just before my leaving. My church Business Manager's youngest sister was killed in a wreck in South Carolina. I drove her home to Matthews and spent time ministering to her yesterday morning. This, of course, interrupted my chance to offer you my support. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.... One recollection that I hope will bring you a smile. It took me years to rebuild self-esteem after the cussing we took on that Halloween of 1964 from the Judge. We, of course, should not have blown up that pumpkin that he was so proud of!! Oh, by the way, did you ever confess?Love you guys!

I am president of the Conference of Superior Court Judges of North Carolina. On behalf of our judges, I extend our condolences to the family of Judge Grist. KI was personally acquainted with Judge Grist, and appeared before him in court in Caldwell County. He was a gracious and wise jurist. We shall remember him fondly.

To Aunt Jane, Billy, Larry and Tommy: My uncle was a wonderful, wonderful man. I love you all and wish I could be there but you know you are in our prayers. The one thing that so stands out in my memory of Uncle Bill was his laugh! I wish my children could have known him as I did. He was not just my uncle but a man for which I had great respect. I am glad he had a long a certainly productive life. Love from Bob, Judy, Jessie and Joe.
