Obituary of Glenn Garella

Glenn Charles Garella Glenn Garella, 60, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011. Originally from Ridgewood, NJ, Glenn is the son of Mildred Wood and the late Charles A. Garella, the brother of Debbie and the late Mark Garella, and the father of Kiel and Alex Garella. He attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill on a swimming scholarship and set countless records at the high school and collegiate level over the course of his athletic career. As a successful investment banker, Glenn exemplified the values of honor and humility. He understood the value of hard work and always made sure to show the janitor the same respect as the CEO. Glenn enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors. He was an accomplished fly fisherman and hunter and lived for chasing bonefish and tarpon across tropical flats. He is survived by his mother, Mildred Wood of Hilton Head, SC; his sister, Debbie Garella of Grand Isle, VT; and his sons Kiel and Alex Garella of Charlotte and Birmingham, AL. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends for a celebration of Glenn?s life following the service at the home of Kiel Garella and Christie Peeler. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to any children?s charity.
