Nancy was one amazing woman and mentor to me. She was in Delta Kappa Gamma, Daughters of the American Revolution and The Charlotte Herb Guild with me. We found it funny that 2 women in this city belong to 3 of the same organizations! I will never forget visiting her at her home. So kind and full of hospitality! I will miss her deeply as I am sure many people she touched in their hearts will also. She had that curiosity about life that inspired others to do their best to face challenges and enjoy good fortune. I feel so blessed to have known Nancy. My prayers are with your family.

Mrs. Parlier was my 1st Grade Teacher, back in 1967 (I think). I was a rather distracted young boy, and I remember her encouraging me to re-focus on the work in such a nice way, that I felt inspired. A wonderful lady for sure! I pray God's Blessings upon her.

Mrs. Parlier was my 1st grade teacher at Starmount in 1970. Of all the teachers I had, she was my favorite.

Wow, what an outstanding teacher! If my math is correct, I had Mrs Parlier for 1st grade in 1967 at Starmount Elementary. I would have to say she was perhaps my favorite teacher - ever. She was so incredibly kind yet a no non sense teacher who had a way of bring the best out of every child. It is pretty amazing to think back on the person who taught you how to read and to write. Her classroom was safe, fun and always different. I'll never forget the day she told me to find out that night what makes a snake move. Well in true first grade fashion, I totally forgot to do my homework. The next morning my time was up. She asked me the question again and I panicked. All I could say was they have really tiny little legs. We talked that over for a while before she kindly informed me that no snakes don't have tiny little legs why don't I go home and try again....I still don't like snakes. I will always remember her stop and go sign on the bathroom door - remember thinking that was a really cool idea in 1st grade and thought we should put one on our bathroom door at home as well. Mrs Parlier instilled in me a love for school and for learning that I have carried for life. I wish I could be there to extend my condolences to the family. Your mom and grand mom was quit a special lady. My prayers go out to you and I trust God will provide comfort through wonderful memories of times together and through His Word. "God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are alive or dead, we may live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
