Obituary of Mildred Jordan

Mildred Helderman Jordan Mrs. Jordan, 91, of Charlotte, NC died Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Asbury Care Center in Charlotte, NC. Mildred was born October 4, 1921 in Catawba, County, NC, daughter of the late Richard and Ora Flowers Helderman. Mrs. Jordan was a devoted homemaker and loved her family. The wife of a Methodist minister, Mildred was very supportive of her husband and his ministry. She was active in the Methodist prison ministry and in the many churches that her husband served. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, The Reverend John Sharpe Jordan; daughters, Mary Lisa Jordan and Elizabeth Jordan Watson and her brother, John Avery Helderman. Survivors include her sons, Stephen Sharpe Jordan of Charlotte, NC and John Timothy Jordan and wife, Ann of Raleigh, NC; brother, Ralph Helderman of Winston Salem, NC; sister, Lucielle Oliver of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie Marie Jordan, Hannah Jordan Sikes and husband, Casey, Jonathan Brisson and wife, Lyndsey, Elisha Brisson Polk and husband, Jason, Richard Shea Watson and wife, Lisa, Caitlin Watson Brissey and husband, Ryan, Katie Langston and husband, Brice, Allison Potts and husband, Jason and Lauren Wright and husband, Warren and fifteen great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Aldersgate and Asbury Care Center for the kindness and care shown to Mrs. Jordan and the family. Funeral service for Mrs. Jordan will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Noon in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hankins & Whittington one hour prior to the service.
