To the family, I am so beyond incredibly sorry for your loss...Kevin was my first friend here in the Carolinas, I have many amazing memories of him over the past 24 years especially from our PI days - he was always so extra protective over me just like my brothers. I am deeply saddened, my heart breaks for us all.

I remember the first time I met Kevin. He was interviewing for a job at First Union. He was warm, kind and funny. Those attributes were a constant in Kevin’s life. He and Todd were a joy to be around. It was evident from the first meeting that they were a loving and devoted couple. We had fun times, mostly including Chris Nolan. My husband and I ran into Kevin and Todd at a Flogging Molly concert, Kevin dressed in his kilt, of course. It was a great and memorable evening. My deepest condolences to Todd, Kevin’s family and all who love him.

If Chris Webb is any indication of the type of man Kevin was, than he truly was as great and caring of an individual as this obituary indicates. I have always been impressed by how straight forward, kind, and supportive Chris is as a person; I am sure some of that must have been due to Mr. Scott. I am praying for all who will miss him that they will be comforted during this difficult time.

Mrs Barker,
We wanted to send you a note of condolences to you and your family. Kevin helped us with our move to Charlotte 5 years ago. We all actually had lunch together where West Elm now sits in South End. You stood out to us as such a sweet lady. We spent time together too at the Pride Parade the following year. Your support, love and spirit were (are) incredible. We cannot imagine what you are going thru yet please know we are thinking of you, Todd and all others. Finally, Kevin was one of our witnesses at our wedding 5 years ago. He told us to be strong and not to cry. Within minutes we heard some sniffling and sure enough Kevin was a sobbing mess :). Kevin got all his wonderful attributes from you and I’m sure his Dad. You did a wonderful job with Kevin and we are very blessed to have known him. Thank you for raising such a great guy who who impacted so many of us. With our loving support- Bob and Brandon Brezeale.

Thank you, Jeff. Phil and I spent this morning seeing so many photos of "all y'all". The only one he looked sad and depressed was the first Christmas home the Citadel. He is waiting for his ride back to the Citadel. He told us he did not want to go back. I told him: "Kevin you ARE going back. No argument and besides we just paid your next semester tuition. He told us recently he was so glad we "made" him return. It was life-changing in many ways.
Hugs,
Gee & Phii

It was in my sophomore year fall of 2006 that I first met Kevin. I found his citadel gala group on Yahoo and was intrigued to meet some open minded folks. I attended my first gala event that fall in the form of a get together after the homecoming game. As a sophomore at The citadel I was in uniform, and a little uncertain. As soon as I saw Kevin smiling face I knew that I was among friends. I’ve continue to attend as many of these events that I have been able to. Meeting individuals from both The Citadel and VMI. I would like to thank Kevin for bringing us all together creating a safe place for us to gather on Facebook as well as in person. In the summer of 2018 Kevin and Todd were kind enough to host me and my wife at their house in Charlotte, so we could attend Charlotte Pride. Of course they were amazing host but over the weekend Kevin also let me know about a job that will be opening in The Citadel admissions office. Upon the encouragement of Kevin I applied fir that job and now work at The citadel in the admissions office. Kevin didn’t stop there he then introduced me to the folks in charge of the cadet run pride group on campus. For the last two years I have enjoyed being an advisor to these amazing students. Kevin was kind, encouraging, and supportive. Kevin’s passing will be a huge loss for The Citadel LGBTQ+?community at both The Citadel and VMI. My thoughts are with Todd and Kevin’s other family members especially his adopted children. Kevin was an amazing man who helped bring all of us together.
