Just found out about this. I'm so sad. Dan and I met as summer stock apprentices in 1975. We shared an apartment when we first moved to NYC, and he was instrumental in getting my Equity card. He will be missed. But, what great memories!

Dan was my oldest brother and very humble and kind. Even though he was a bit older than me, I remember attending his plays when he was in high school and tech school. That was definitely his first love and he was a very talented actor. As he moved around the country to pursue his theatre, non-profit and LGBT community work, I was older and more interested in his efforts. We shared the art of fundraising together and compared stories of what we each accomplished. I got to visit him several times in Charlotte, Wilmington and San Diego and have fond memories of each trip. Even though we didn't see each other often, we stayed in touch and talked every few months to catch up. He was always a good listener, had good advice and loved to hear what was happening with my career, kids, grandkids and hubby. I will miss those calls as they always gave me a sense of peace that he was doing well and accomplishing good things......little did I know of the impact that he had on so many lives. He always ended the conversation with "Be good to yourself Little Sis". I hope that I can follow in his footsteps, do great things and have an impact like him. "So big brother, be good to yourself and rest in peace. Love you lots, Little Sis, Beth."

I first met Dan 25 years ago. He was a friend and mentor. He was able to unify the community in a way I've never seen any other person do. He was the secret sauce that made things work, that were seemingly unworkable. His influence on the community will live long after him.

Dan was a kind and gentle man. Always considerate thoughtful and made you feel special no matter when no matter where you saw him.
We always used to kid each other that he had a way of making me feel so short because he was very tall! Dan was truly larger-than-life!
His gentle manner will be greatly missed in our community and buy me and my family.
