Obituary of Jean Cooper Kitson

Jean Cooper Kitson, age 89, of Charlotte, NC formerly of Guiseley, Yorkshire, England, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Southminster Retirement Community, Charlotte, NC. Jean was born on March 22, 1928 in Guiseley, Yorkshire, England and attended school in England. She was a volunteer during WWII helping with the Red Cross. She also worked as an accountant at a local hotel in the Yorkshire Dales, in England. She was married to the love of her life Norman Geoffrey Kitson in 1949. They were married for 65 years. She gave birth to her daughter in 1950. She moved to New Zealand in 1957 and then to Australia in 1962 and to Hong Kong in 1967 before returning to the United Kingdom in 1974, then Jean moved to Charlotte, NC in 1984, where she remained until her passing. She was a member of a local book club, gardening club and a local quilter guild and Ikebana. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening. She was an avid dog lover. A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Southminster, 8919 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. Interment will be private.
