Obituary of Lillian Stubbs

Lillian Gaffney Hoover Stubbs Mrs. Stubbs, 91, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Terrance Ridge in Gastonia. She was born February 25, 1918 in Charlotte, NC, a daughter of the late Lafayette Gaffney and Blanch Ingle Gaffney. Mrs. Stubbs was a member of Thrift United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where she was active in the UMW (United Methodist Women). She loved to cook and crochet and was generous to a fault. She would give you the sweater off her back. She was first married to the late Harry W. Hoover, Sr. and then to the late Harry Stubbs. Mrs. Stubbs is survived by a son, Harry Hoover, Jr. and his wife, Terry, of Huntersville; a daughter, Cherry Harrelson and her husband, Tommy, of Charlotte; two sisters, Janie Waggoner of Charlotte and Lucy Cloen of Howell, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Jennifer Harrell Burch, Erin Milstead and Harry Hoover, III; three great grandchildren, Kohl Mistead, Preston Mistead, and Hayden Milstead. Funeral service for Mrs. Stubbs will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 8, 2009 in Thrift United Methodist Church, 8245 Moore?s Chapel Road, Charlotte, NC. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
