Obituary of Marilyn Stout

Marilyn Elizabeth Stout ?Betty? Mrs. Stout, 86, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. Mrs. Stout was born on February 7, 1923 in Baltimore, Md. to the late Peter William Jones and Mary Juanita Bowhay Jones. She graduated from Western High School. After graduation and during World War II she worked as the secretary for the Chief of Medical Services of the Psychiatric Section at Fort Meade Hospital, Maryland. She married John Cheston Stout in 1944 and they moved to the Charlotte area in 1947. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and a resident of The Carriage Club. She was an avid reader, bridge player, devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Stout was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Cheston Stout. Surviving are her five children, John Cheston Stout Jr. and his wife, Kathryn of Savannah, Ga., Marilyn Anne Stout of Charlotte, Robert Michael Stout and his wife, Janet of Charlotte, Patrick Thomas Stout and his wife, Sally of Charlotte and Christopher William Stout and his wife, Nancy of Houston, TX. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, Marye Virgina Sanctuary, Robert Michael Stout, Jr., Carolyn Elizabeth Stout, Ramey Elizabeth Stout, Kathryn Wilcox Stout, Megan Elizabeth Stout and Kevin Christopher Stout. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hankins and Whittington, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC, Father Patrick Toole, celebrant. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Smile Train, 28th Floor, 41 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10010 or The Salvation Army, P.O.
