Obituary of Daisy Locke

Daisy Sipe Quinn Locke Mrs. Locke, 94, of Charlotte, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Pineville Rehab and Living Center. She was born August 31, 1914, in the Sparrow Springs community of Gaston County, a daughter of the late Junius Cornelius Sipe and Amanda Louella Black Sipe. Mrs. Locke first worked with Lance Cracker in Charlotte and spread peanut butter by hand on crackers before the introduction of automation. She later managed Diana Dress Shops in Camden and Greenwood. Mrs. Locke was co-owner of the former Longlife Lighting of Charlotte and was a member of Wedgewood Baptist Church. She was first married to the late Evan Thomas Quinn and then to the late James Thomas Locke. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Quinn Moore of Charlotte; two sons, C. Harold Quinn of Lake Wylie, SC and Lewis Evan Quinn of Charlotte; a sister, Ruby Sipe Dixon of Cherryville, NC; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. There will be a funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Locke?s life at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC. Interment will follow in Armstrong Cemetery in Gastonia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
