Obituary of Henry Stroud

Mr. Henry Andrew Stroud, 86, of Charlotte, NC passed peacefully, Friday, July 24, 2009 surrounded by his family at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Stroud was born January 29, 1923 in High Point, NC son of the late W.D. and Annie Jane Gaither Stroud. He graduated from High Point College with a degree in teaching and business administration and was a US Army Veteran of WWII. In addition to his parents Mr. Stroud was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Winslow Stroud in 2006 and eight sisters and one brother. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his sons, Harry Stroud and his wife Jackie of Monroe, NC, Roger Stroud and his wife, Beverly of Lake Wylie, SC and Jim Stroud and his wife, Libbi of East Bend, NC; sister, Belle Stroud Cox of Winston-Salem, NC. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jake Lipton, Harry Stroud, Jr., Michael Broome, Carmen Porter, Victoria Stroud and David Stroud and five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mr. Stroud?s life will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Entombment will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
