Obituary of James Pruitt

James Henry ?Jim? Pruitt Mr. Pruitt, 87, of Charlotte died at his residence on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Born in Danville, VA on October 26, 1921, he was the son of the late J. Ellis Pruitt and Geneva S. Pruitt. He was preceded in death by his son E. Scott Pruitt and brother, William Pruitt. Jim was a graduate of George Washington High School in Danville, VA and the Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, VA in 1950 where he lettered in baseball and basketball. A veteran of WW II Mr. Pruitt served in the US Navy as a Physical Instructor. He retired after thirty years in textiles with Chemstrand Corporation and Monsanto working in Charlotte, NC and New York City. The next twelve years he worked for McBess Industries and Tuscarora Yarns as a marketing consultant. He was a member of Matthews United Methodist Church and the Elizabeth Patrick Sunday School Class. Mr Pruitt was also a member of the Carmel Country Club and the Charlotte senior Forum. Mr. Pruitt is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Fralin Pruitt, 3 nieces and 2 great nieces and one brother in law and his family. A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Matthews United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Ken Lyon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church and at the residence.
