Obituary of Marianna Griggs

Marianna Heath Griggs Mrs Griggs, 73, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 30, 2009. She was born on March 17, 1936 in Aiken, SC, daughter of the late Ethel Bethany Heath and Manford H. Heath. Marianna graduated from Augusta College and the American Institute of Banking. In 1957 she moved to Charlotte where she began her 38 year career in banking with First Union National Bank, Mutual Savings & Loan and First Citizens Bank. She was married to the late Hal Clement Griggs. Marianna was also preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas M. Heath and W.A. "Buddy" Heath, and a sister, Kathryne H. Shipman. Marianna is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Craig M. Wardlaw, who acted as her guardian brother for many years. Also, Marianna enjoyed a wide circle of many loyal friends and was grateful for their support over decades of friendship. She will be missed by them. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church where she was a choir member for many years. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Mark E. Harris, the Reverend Michael Cummings, and the Reverend Bill Saylor officiating. Her family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at the Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville for the love and care given to Marianna during her stay.
