Obituary of Louise Longworth

Louise Hurst Longworth Mrs. Longworth, 94, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the Carriage Club of Charlotte. Louise was one of six children born in Winston-Salem to Venia Craddock and A.L. Hurst, Sr. She was married 73 years to Charles Edmund Longworth, her high school sweetheart. He preceded her in death in June, 2008. Surviving are a brother, G. Wayne Hurst, Sr. and wife, Helen, of Winston-Salem, NC and in=laws, Charlotte and James Longworth of Charlotte. She will be missed by her family, especially, nieces Susan Hurst and Linda Couch and nephews, Jim Longworth, Jr. and Lynwood, Bill, Voit, Gil, Doug, Don and John Hurst as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Louise was especially proud of her godchildren, Michael Hurst and Courtney and Chad Martin and she appreciated the love and support of her longtime friend, Sheila Baugh. Louise had a great love of golf that she shared with friends and family. She was not only skilled at golf, but also excellent in needlecraft and gardening. It was always easy to find Louise if a sporting event was being broadcast ? she was watching her T.V. She was such an avid Carolina fan that she had to leave the T.V. room if her beloved ?Heels? were losing! A celebration of Louise?s life will be held at the Carriage Club Coach House parlor Monday, September 7, 2009 at 1:30p.m. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Shields and the Rev. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Carriage Club as well as Dr. Nicholas Grivas, Frances Schutte and their Hospice team and Cal Adkins, Colnette Skinner and Sabrina Hawkins of Home Instead Senior Care.
