Obituary of Georgios Stathopoulos

Georgios Stathopoulos Mr. Stathopoulos, 83, of Charlotte died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, NC. Georgios was born November 26, 1925, in Nostimo, Evrytanias Greece, son of the late Spero and Eugenia Stathopoulos. Mr. Stathopoulos came to Charlotte, NC in December of 1971 with his family and was employed with Lance for fourteen years beginning in 1972. After retiring he enjoyed spending the summer months in his home village of Nostimo. His activities revolved around his family and he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and was blessed to have been able to spend time with his three great grandchildren. Georgios also enjoyed his wonderful friends and walking many miles a day. Surviving are his wife, Andrigoula Stathopoulos; daughter, Eugenia Hondros and husband, John; son, Spero Georgios Stathopoulos and wife, Meena; daughter, Eleni Lironis and husband, Panayiotis; grandson, Dr. Takie Hondros and wife, Dena and their children Evy, Yanni and Beba; granddaughters, Sophia Thomopoulos and husband, Peter and Andrigoula Hondros; grandsons, Georgios Stathopoulos, Andreas Stathopoulos, Hristos Lironis, Thimios Lironis and Yiorgios Lironis; brothers, Kosta Stathopoulos and wife, Panayiota, Chris Stathopoulos and wife, Melba and John Stathopoulos and wife, Kay; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Stathopoulos will be held Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with Father Michael Varvarelis, Father Efstathios Varvarelis and Father Tommy Vlahos officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Trisagion will be held at the Cathedral Friday evening at 7:00 PM. The family will greet friends following the Trisagion in Father ?C? Hall.
