Obituary of Charles Reaves

Charles E. Reaves, MD, 67 passed away on Wednesday, September 16th, 2009. Born in Gulfport, MS in 1942, Dr. Reaves was the son of the late Reverend & Mrs. Thomas B. Reaves. His life continues to be celebrated by his spouse, Ruth Ann Hall, his three children, Valerie (Alphonso) Hodge, Charles (Nicole) Reaves, Jr. and Thomas Reaves, as well as two step-children, Jason (Stefanie) D?Asto, and Pilar D?Asto. Charles is also survived by his sister, Judy (Joe) Davenport and he was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren. Dr. Reaves attended the University of Mississippi, where he earned his B.S. in 1964, and his Doctorate in Medicine in 1967. He completed his residency in dermatology at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, and went on to attend the Air Force Institute of Pathology. After serving his country in the United States Air Force, Lt. Colonel Reaves entered into private practice, which he enjoyed for 34 years before his death. Dr. Reaves practiced Dermatology in Charlotte, NC for 22 years and was a well loved and greatly respected physician. He was a man of great integrity who was devoted to his profession. Charles? interests in life included his great love of reading, his passion for stamp collecting, and the enjoyment and pride that he felt for his children and grandchildren. He graced his family with gentle humor and abiding love. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Gabriel?s Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC, on Tuesday, September 22nd, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Francis J. O?Rourke, celebrant of St. Gabriel. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A private burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
