Obituary of Ottice Howell

Ottice Lee Howell ?Abe? Mr. Howell, 77, of Charlotte died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Asbury Care Center in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Monroe, NC May 24, 1932 son of the late Claude and Ollie Simpson Howell. Mr. Howell graduated from Western Carolina University in 1958 with a B.S. in education and was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He taught school in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and retired from Continental Insurance Company. Abe was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing on American Legion Post 27 Baseball Team as their catcher. In addition to his parents Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Howell and sister, Betty Jean Howell. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and a good Christian man. Survivors include his wife Alicia ?Patsy? Howell of Charlotte, NC; sons, Mark Howell and wife, Lynne of Matthews, NC and David Howell and wife, Velerie of Winston Salem, NC; brothers, Larry Howell and wife, Mary of Mint Hill, NC and Charles Howell and wife Peggy of Newland, NC and grandsons, Noah and Jonah Howell. A service to celebrate Mr. Howell?s life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Providence United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
