Obituary of Anita Donnan

Anita Kenney Donnan Mrs. Donnan, 86, of Charlotte NC, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009. Mrs. Donnan was born on November 18, 1922 in Toledo Ohio. She was the daughter of the late James Matthew and Dorothy Harrison Kenney. She was a graduate of Central High School in Charlotte. After high school, she studied art at Queens College and worked with The Southern Bell Telephone Company where she met numerous lifelong friends. Mrs. Donnan was a homemaker devoted to her family. Her husband of 57 years, Robert Calvin Donnan, Sr, passed away in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Donnan of Greenville, South Carolina and son, Robert C. Donnan, Jr. of Carrboro, North Carolina. Mrs. Donnan is also survived by brother-in-law, John Peters of Columbia, SC, nieces, Donna Kinsey, Zan Tyler, Sybil Pullen, and Carol McCorkle, nephews, Kent McCorkle and Doug McCorkle. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Donnan was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Kenney Atkins and sister-in-law, Sybil Donnan Peters. Mrs. Donnan was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins and Whittington. The Reverend Katherine Cooke of First Presbyterian Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the church?s television ministry that airs weekly on WSOC-TV.
