Obituary of Nancy Godfrey Cates

Nancy A. Godfrey-Cates Ms. Godfrey-Cates, 67, of Charlotte, died October 11, 2009 at the Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville. She was born on September 27, 1942 in Laurinburg, NC, daughter of the late Bruce Wilhoyt Godfrey and Nina Belle Suggs Godfrey. Ms. Godfrey-Cates attended the University of South Carolina and Pfeiffer College. She then went on to a career in banking at the North Carolina National Bank, a predecessor to Bank of America. Ms. Godfrey-Cates is survived by cousins, Emmy Lou Heywood of Waxhaw, NC; Anita Suggs of Manhattan Beach, CA; Julia Ann Cazayoux, Mary Baillie, Stephen Suggs, Janet Mangin, Terry Sultzer, and Tommy Sultzer, all of Louisiana; and many loving and supportive friends. A memorial service to celebrate Ms. Godfrey-Cates? life will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2009, in the Chapel of Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church, where she was a long-time member.
