Obituary of Ruth Martin

Ruth B. Martin Mrs. Martin, 71, of Charlotte, widow of William E. Martin, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009 at her son?s home in Irmo, South Carolina. She was born on October 14, 1938 in Marion, Virginia, a daughter of Minnie Berry and the late Daniel Berry. After graduating high school in Marion, Virginia, she worked for the Brunswick Corporation and married William E. Martin in 1957 and they moved to Charlotte in 1965. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte. Ruth loved to read and do puzzles and was excellent at needlepoint. She is survived by her mother of Chilhowie, Virginia; and a son, Gregory W. Martin of Irmo, South Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate Ruth?s life will be held at 1:00p.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the funeral home.
