Viola Glisson

Obituary of Viola Glisson

Viola Horne Glisson ?Tee? ?Family, friends and faith ? my enjoyment is complete? were the words spoken by Tee Glisson just before passing away on November 15, 2009 at The Cypress Club of Charlotte. She was born on October 30, 1928, daughter of the late Mayhugh and Nora Moffett Horne and grew up in Washington, D.C. and Dares Beach, Maryland. She attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Georgia where she met her husband, Fredrick Merle Glisson. Tee and Fred were happily married until his death in 1992. Tee?s two daughters were born while they lived in Maryland. The family later moved to their adopted home of Charlotte, NC. Tee would make the comment about her life in Charlotte that she had ?fifty years of enjoyment here ? not by birth, but by choice?. Mrs. Glisson was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She was involved in the Women?s Circle as well as various Bible studies which she also participated in while living at The Cypress. Tee was a member of the Charity League where she had an outlet for her artistic and craft talents. Her love of children was expressed through the Sunshine Nursery and teaching Sunday school. A sixteen year cancer survivor, she never complained about the treatments. She would say that ?Every day was a great day?. Her loving family will always remember the laughter she created. She would even laugh at herself claiming that ?even if it?s at my own expense, it didn?t cost me anything?. Mrs. Glisson is survived by her daughters, Cher Cosper of Boone, NC and Adrian Lunsford and her husband, Trevis of McKinney, Texas; brother, Mayhugh H. Horne Jr.and his wife, Hannelora of Lake Wylie, SC; the greatest joy of her life, her grandchildren, Brent Lunsford of Sacramento, CA, Natalie Lunsford of Charlotte, Desiree Lunsford of NY, NY, Brian Lunsford of McKinney, TX, Ashley Evans-Busch and husband, James of Arizona; nephews, Mayhugh H. Horne III, Christian Horne and Tobias Horne. Services were private.
