Obituary of Esther Hamscher Fishel

Esther Lucille Hamscher Fishel Mrs. Fishel, 93, of Charlottes died Friday, December 25, 2009. She was born October 23, 1916 daughter of John W. and Alisan Porter Hamscher in Pittsburgh, PA. Esther was educated at Carnegie Mellon University, Trapaphagen School of Fashion Design and Queens College. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Cultural Sorority. Mrs. Fishel was an artist, photographer and enjoyed traveling. She was the art director at J.B. Ivey for 28 years and fashion illustrator at Shadowline Lingerie for 20 years. Since 1950 Mrs. Fishel was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was active in the couple?s class and the bell choir. In addition to her parents Mrs. Fishel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fishel in 1992. Surviving by marriage are Claire Linn and husband, Bill of Pittsburgh, PA and Ann Clark Boyd of Cary, NC. A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Her cremains will be entombed in the columbarium with her husband, Charles.
