Obituary of Kay Norvell

Kay Allen Norvell Kay Allen Norvell, of Charlotte passed away on Friday A.M. January 15, 2010. She was born in 1934 in Greensboro, NC and grew up in Manhasset, NY. Her father was Frederick ?Biz? Norvell and her mother was Page Seay Killian. She graduated from Bayside High (Manhasset, NY) and from Duke University with a degree in Psychology in 1956. She taught elementary school and was a flight stewardess before marrying Sid Norvell in 1960, her husband of 45 years. Survivors include sons Rick Norvell and his wife Lindsay, David Norvell and his wife Ann, and Killian Norvell and his wife Daphne. She leaves 9 grandchildren (Conrad, Matthew, Carter, Shields, Elliott, Mac, Cameron, Vicky and Silas), one sister, Carole, and her husband Harry, and Spence and Susie Norvell, her sister and brother in law. She also leaves her nieces Caroline ?CC? Clauss-Ehlers and Susan Koch, and a very cute Jack Russell Terrier, Miss Minnie. Kay?s true loves were her husband Sid, her parents, her family and her church. Her proudest accomplishment was raising her 3 sons, and Kay had special pride in being a devoted wife of Sid, supporting him throughout his career and a multitude of volunteer activities. She was a member of the Battle of Charlotte Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Myers Park United Methodist Church. Her body will be donated for research at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. A memorial service for Kay will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 1 pm in the sanctuary of Myers Park Methodist Church at 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte. Friends and family are invited. The family will receive friends following the service in Jubilee Hall. Kay?s last days were blessed by the wonderful care of Hospice Charlotte Region and Compassionate Care of Charlotte ? our family deeply appreciates their loving care.
