Obituary of Joan McCracken

Joan Ressing McCracken Mrs. McCracken, 80, of Charlotte, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on May 28, 1929, daughter of the late Serrell Kirkwood Ressing, Sr. and Hazel Ellen Lindauer Ressing. Mrs. McCracken moved to Charlotte as a young girl. She loved her home, her yard, birds and nature and especially animals. Mrs. McCracken also loved her church, St. Andrews Presbyterian where she served as an Elder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Serrell Kirkwood Ressing, Jr., and a sister, Jane Minor. Mrs. McCracken is survived by her daughter, Deborah Frey; sister, Peggy Lou Gordon; nieces, Pixie Gordon Giles, Donna Michaels, and Susan Gordon; and a nephew, Evan Minor. The funeral service will be at 12:00 noon Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 2201 Springdale Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28203, with Reverend James W. McQuiston II, officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service.
