Obituary of Sara Mims

Sara King Murray Mims Mrs. Mims, 87, died Friday, January 29, 2010 in the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Sara was born September 3, 1922, in Charleston, SC daughter of the late Joseph James and Marguerite Hood Murray. She attended Winthrop University and was employed with Amethyst House for many years. Mrs. Mims was a resident of Wilora Lake Lodge and she enjoyed the active life style there, where she took part in many of the activities. In addition to her parents Mrs. Mims was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Frank Mims in 2002. Survivors include her daughters, The Rev. Dr. Marguerite Rourk and husband David of Fairfax, VA and Carolyn O?Connor and husband, Frank of Hibbing, MN; son, Murray Frank Mims of Charlotte; sister, Mary M. Harken of Charleston, SC; grandsons, Anthony Wood, Edwin and Matthew Rourk and great grandson, Tiernan Rourk. The family will receive friends at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service Monday evening February 1, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Presbyterian Church, 5735 W.T.
