Obituary of Virginia Smith Davis

Virginia Rose Smith Davis Mrs. Davis, 84, of Denver, NC past away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Huntersville Oaks. She was born in Charlotte, NC on November 10, 1925 a daughter of the late Marvin L. Smith and Blanche L. Smith of Charlotte, NC. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and homemaker and known as "Doll" to many friends and family members. She was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church for approximately 65 years and she taught children's Sunday school class for numerous years. She was a member of the Maranatha Sunday school class which she enjoyed very much. She was a graduate of Berryhill High School in 1943 and attended Guilford College. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter Number 36. Virginia also grew beautiful roses which she and her family and friends enjoyed. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Martin Luther Davis; sisters, Daisy Shaffner, Violet Fort, and brother, Marvin Smith. Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter Shelley Davis Stout and her husband, Danny Stout of Denver, NC; two grandchildren Chadwick Lloyd Stout and his wife Amy Johnson Stout of Charlotte, NC and Emily Stout Stiven and husband Alan Gregory Stiven of Denver, NC and one great-grandchild Alan Daniel Stiven of Denver, NC; sisters Iris Elizabeth Blanchette and Myrtice Niven; sisters-in-law, Julia Gaither and Flora Smith and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Lake View Inn at Huntersville Oaks for their support and love. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church1117 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203.
