Obituary of William Green

William Harry Green, Sr (Bill) Mr. Green, 78 years old, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at home. Bill was the son of the late Harry Green and Claire Regan, and is preceded in death by the love of his life of 50 years, Andrea Beverly Green. He was greatly loved by his children; Mrs. Piper Franz of Matthews, Mr. William Green Jr. (Bill) of Charlotte, Mrs. Pamela Sielaff of Matthews, Mrs. Laurie Milligan of Charlotte, Ms. Victoria Green of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mrs. Bethany Hall of Ocean City, Maryland; along with their spouses, his 27 grandchildren, and his 17 great grandchildren. Bill was born in Danbury, Connecticut, and after graduating high school, moved to Miami, Florida and attended the University of Miami, where he met his future bride. In 1970, he moved to Charlotte, where with his wife, he designed, built, and ran several restaurants, notably The Studio, in Charlottetown Mall, and Benedictines, on Fairview Road. Over their fifty years of marriage, he and Andrea remained a constant team, building their family, their love, and working on countless projects together. He loved woodworking, fishing, the ocean, traveling, (especially to visit his children and grandchildren), and rooting on his Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers. Bill was completely devoted to being a loving husband, father and grandfather. After his beloved Andrea died there in 2002, he began volunteering at Presbyterian Hospital which he continued until his death. Bill had a deep faith in Jesus Christ, and attended First Baptist Church of Charlotte. A funeral service will be at held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Hankins & Whittington with Reverend Michael Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 12, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hankins and Whittington. Flowers may be sent to the chapel, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Road, Charlotte, NC 28210-2255.
