Obituary of Peter Bogguss

Peter Daniel Bogguss Mr. Bogguss, 58, of Charlotte passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at his residence after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. A native of Charlotte Mr. Bogguss was born March 26, 1951 son of the late Dale Wilson Bogguss and Mary Stroud Peterson Bogguss. Pete graduated from CPCC and attended UNCC. He earned his CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter); ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) and was employed with Smith Financial Group. Mr. Bogguss was an active member of First Christian Church and was a former member of Eastway Christian Church where he served as chairman of the board, chairman of the elders and chairman of the deacons. Pete was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving on the Mecklenburg County Council and as a head of an Explorer Post. Mr. Bogguss was presented the Silver Beaver Award in 1995 by the Mecklenburg County Council. Pete was also involved in his son?s Cub Scout Pack as a committee chairman. Mr. Bogguss was a past president of the Charlotte Life Underwriters Association and served as State Membership Chair for the North Carolina Association of Life Underwriters. Mr. Bogguss was involved with the SouthPark Lions Club and served as a past president of the club. Pete enjoyed golfing with his friends and was devoted to his wife and family. In addition to his parents Pete was preceded in death by his daughter Daniella Grace Bogguss in 1999. Survivors include his wife, Julie Mead Bogguss and son, Ian Wilson Bogguss both of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Lynne Bogguss of Charlotte, NC, Ann Bogguss Poole and husband, Pat of Atlanta, GA and Lola Bogguss Sloop of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and extended family members. A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at First Christian Church. The Family will receive friends at the Church Sunday evening, February 21, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
