Obituary of Maxine Christy

Maxine Hampton Christy Maxine Christy died March 12, 2010 at the age of 88. She was born on August 14, 1921 in Lanett, Alabama, a daughter of the late William G. and Mary Pluma Horne Hampton. She graduated from Lincolnton High School where she was on the May Court and a member of the National Honor Society. Maxine was also a graduate of Kings Business College and worked as an Executive Assistant with General Motors for fifteen years. On June 12, 1943, she married the love of her life, Roy Little Christy. During their marriage they enjoyed traveling together and playing tennis. They were both members of Dilworth Methodist Church and volunteered at the local homeless shelter. Maxine spent her time playing bridge, gardening and working as a print model for Carolina Talent. Surviving are her husband, Roy Little Christy; her children, Lynne Solomon, Shirley Martin, and Michael Christy; grandchildren, Geoffrey Solomon, Adrian Solomon, Deirdre Solomon, Emily Martin-Hondros, Anna Martin and Sean Christy; and great-grandchildren, Miller and Russell Solomon and Jackson Hondros. For her grandchildren, their ?Nana? will be remembered for her sense of style and flair, her passion for life, sense of humor and her amazing home-cooked breakfasts. The family would like to offer special thanks to the senior caregivers; Sharron, Jane, Catherine, Rosalie, and Kathy who have all become like family. A service to celebrate her life will be held March 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
