Hazel Watts Blackman
Mrs. Blackman, 88, of Charlotte died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Britthaven of Charlotte.
She was the oldest of ten children born to the late Owen and Mary Jackson Watts on May 7, 1921 in Dillon County, SC.
Hazel was a member of Westview Baptist Church. Mrs. Blackman was employed with Park and Shop until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.
In addition to her parents and six siblings Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her son, Woodrow Wilson Blackman, Jr. and son-in-law Willie Heath.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Woodrow Blackman; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Heath both of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Owen L. Watts of Beaufort, NC and Marvin Watts and wife Ruth of Charlotte, NC; sister, Nellie Bryant and husband, Landis of Charlotte, NC granddaughter, Mary Jean Young and husband, Jack; grandson, Billy Heath and wife, Kassie all of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian Helms, Kaitlyn, Will and Kara Heath and great great-granddaughter, Taryn Helms and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mrs. Blackman will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 20, 2010 in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
