Obituary of Ruth Jarrell

Ruth Shirley Jarrell Miss Jarrell, 85, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, March 22, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center. A Charlotte native, she was born September 2, 1924, daughter of the late Charlie and Annabelle Helms Jarrell. She attended Dilworth Elementary, Alexander Graham Junior High, Central High School and graduated from Queens College. Miss Jarrell received a masters from UNCC and taught third grade for over forty years as Harrisburg Elementary School in Harrisburg, NC. She was a long-time member of Dilworth United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Ruth was a loving sister and aunt and was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters; Richard K. Jarrell, William G. Jarrell, Charlie W. Jarrell, Jack Jarrell, Rose Beasley and Mary Jane Wells. She is survived by three sisters, Dorothy J. Draughon of Rutherfordton, NC, Annabelle Jarrell and Patricia J. Stokes and her husband, H. Von, all of Charlotte, and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Dilworth United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ben Devoid officiating.
