Obituary of Charles Beaty

Charles Lee Beaty Mr. Beaty, 90, of Mt. Holly, NC and formerly of Charlotte died at the Stanley Total Living Center in Stanley, NC on Thursday, April 1, 2010. A Charlotte native Mr. Beaty was born May 25, 1919 son of the late Robert and Bertha Porter Beaty. Mr. Beaty graduated from Technical High School class of 1938 and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was a 50 year member of the Paw Creek American Legion and was a member of Pine Island Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends. Later he joined the lunch bunch at Green Meadows Golf Course and acquired many friends there. Mr. Beaty was an active member of Assurance United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the chancel choir and served as a steward of the church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beaty was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Jeannette Walker Beaty and brothers, Samuel and Robert Beaty. Survivors include his son Wayne Lee Beaty and wife, Jan of Mt. Holly, NC ; grandson, Chad Lee Beaty and wife, Amanda of Alexis, NC ; sister, Annie Mae Swain of Atlanta, GA and sister-in-law, Ann Beaty of Charlotte, NC and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Beaty will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 at Noon at Assurance United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
