Obituary of Thomas Hoover

Thomas J. Hoover Mr. Hoover, 93, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, April 19, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born in Mooresville, NC on November 19, 1916, son of the late Thomas Jefferson Hoover and Sarah Coleman Hoover. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Hoover was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the Sam Hinson Bible Class. A retired printer with The Charlotte Observer, he was a member of the International Typographical Union. After he retired he worked at Giant Genie and took care of his wife and mother prior to their deaths. Mr. Hoover was known for his love of family, hotdogs and chocolate. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hoover was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Miller Hoover, a brother, Milton Hoover, sister, Mary Hoover Cooke and a great grandson, Joshua Holden Pressley. He is survived by four children; Tommy Hoover and his wife, Sally of Clover, SC; three daughters, Barbara (Jean) Pressley and her husband, Bill (Junior) of Lake Wylie, SC, Pat Tesh and her husband, Herb, of Fort Mill, SC, and Cathy Marrow and her husband, Steve, of Waxhaw, NC; twelve grandchildren, Randy Pressley and his wife, Debbie, Mike Pressley and his wife, Patty, Ronnie Hoover and his wife, Susan, Johnny Hoover and his wife, Beth, Bobby Hoover and his wife, LaShunta, Margaret Lafaele and her husband, Mack, Herb Tesh IV and his wife, Tracy, Denise Otwell, Thomas Tesh and his wife, Nikole, Amanda Williams and her husband, Jay, Sarah Roux and her husband, Scott, Stephanie Fisher and her husband, Jamie; two step-grandchildren, Donna Dansby and her husband, Jason, and Kathy Williams; 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Hoover will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Calvary United Methodist Church with the Reverend Melita B. Padilla officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hiner and grandchildren, Randy and Mike Pressley, Herb and Thomas Tesh and Ronnie Bobby and Johnny Hoover.
