Obituary of Gary Johnston

Gary Lowell Johnston Mr. Johnston, 70, of Marietta, Georgia, died on May 1, 2010. He was a son of the late Frank D. Johnston, Sr. and Iska Garrett Johnston. He is survived by his brother, Frank D. Johnston, Jr. four nieces, one nephew and several cousins. He was a native of Charlotte and spent the first 37 years of his life in Charlotte where he was active on the music scene. He was a member of the Charlotte Opera Association and the Charlotte Oratorio singers. He was also director of music at First United Methodist, Ascension Lutheran and Central United Methodist Churches in the 60?s and 70?s. Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Elmwood Cemetery with the Reverend John Fastenau officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
