Obituary of Homer Ruffin

Homer Calvin ?Snookie? Ruffin, Jr. Mr. Ruffin, 81, of Denver, NC died Friday, June 11, 2010, at Carrington Place in Matthews, NC. He was born July 9, 1928, in Thomaston, GA, son of the late Home C. Ruffin, Sr. and Bertha Mae Gordy Ruffin. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed with Fruehauf Trailers for 42 years. Mr. Ruffin was a member of SouthPark Christian Church where he was active for many years. Homer enjoyed the computer, fishing, crabbing and shrimping. He was a big Atlanta Braves fan and was also a member of the Shrine. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents Mr. Ruffin was preceded in death by his wife, Lois and granddaughter, Kathryn Wyatt. Survivors include his daughters, Pamela R. Young and husband, Dan of Locust Grove, VA and Patricia R. Wyatt of Matthews, NC; son, Rick Ruffin of Denver, NC; grandchildren, Shane Ruffin, Dan R. Young, II, Lindsay Wyatt and Kristin Young. Mr. Ruffin is also survived by three great grandchildren and was awaiting the arrival of the fourth. Funeral service for Mr. Ruffin will be held Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, with the Reverend Peggy Bridgers and Reverend Sam Fuson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 222 S.
