Obituary of Robert Gantt

Robert B. Gantt ?Bob? Mr. Gantt, 90, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on June 15, 2010 after a brief illness. He was born in Claremont, NC on October 10, 1919, the youngest of eleven children to the late Charles F. Gantt and Mattie Sigmon Gantt. Mr. Gantt served with U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II in Okinawa. After the war he became a sales representative for several clothing manufacturers until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty seven years, Alma. Mr. Gantt is survived by his three children, Sheila Kale and her husband, Ted, Bobbi Whitfield and her husband, Paul, Greg Gantt and his wife, Polly and ?adopted? daughter, Beverly Wallace and her husband, Larry; six grandchildren, Charles Gantt and his wife, Denise, Robert Gantt, II and his wife, Sondra, Lisa Kale and her husband, Mike, Chris Kale and his wife, Charity, Elizabeth Whitfield, and Matthew Gantt; four great-grandsons, Austin Parker, Andrew Kale, Robert Gantt, III, and Samuel Gantt. An honorable man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends has gone home to be with his Lord. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203 with Dr. Steve Jirgal officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner?s Hospital c/o Oasis Temple, 604 Doug Mayes Pl.
