Obituary of Velma Currin

Velma Moore Currin Mrs. Currin, 88, formerly of Charlotte, died June 23, 2010. She was born on September 7, 1921 in Scotland County, daughter of the late James A. Moore, Sr. and Esther McLendon Moore. Mrs. Currin retired from Charlotte Memorial Hospital after thirty years of service, mostly in the Endoscopy Unit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. (Bill) Currin; three brothers, Lacy A. Moore, Sr., Harvey C. Moore, and James A. Moore, Jr.; and two nephews, Terry W. Suggs and Lacy A. Moore, Jr. Mrs. Currin is survived by a sister, Margie Suggs of Whiteville, NC; a step-son, Ronnie Currin and his wife, Carol Soddy Daisy of Tennessee; nephews, Larry Suggs and his wife, Vickie of Whiteville, NC, Chris Suggs and his wife, Dale of Florence, SC, Gene Moore and his wife, Mildred of Seneca, SC, Benny Moore and his wife, Bennie Lou of Cheraw, SC; and nieces Debra S. Bordeaux and her husband, Harlee of Supply, NC and Barbara M. Coleman and her husband, Charley of Columbia, SC. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 26, 2010 in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203 with the Reverend Ray Rippy, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be sent to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Ave. Charlotte, NC 28203.
