Obituary of Jean Robinson

Jean Lewis Robinson Mrs. Robinson, 89, of Charlotte, passed away on July 13, 2010 at her residence at The Cypress. She was born on March 8, 1921 in Gaston County, a daughter of the late John Kelly Lewis and Ada May Jenkins Lewis. Mrs. Robinson loved her family and friends. She was so very proud of her brother, the legendary Buddy Lewis of Gastonia. She was his biggest fan during his career with the Washington Senators baseball team. Her humor, style, and incredible life spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed playing bridge, (Life Master), animals, the beach, reading, gardening, and decorating. Mrs. Robinson?s life was an example to many and she loved working with teenagers through Junior Achievement. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her husband, Coit Robinson; her step-son, Joseph Robinson; six siblings; and nieces and nephews. She is survived by her brother, J.K. Lewis, Jr. (Buddy) and his wife Frankie Oates Lewis; step-daughter, Ann Peters; and nieces and nephews, Dr. William H. Morris, Robert Morris, Lewis Kelly Robinson, Jerrie Lowe Thompson, Catherine Rhyne, and Judith Lowe Rinn, Kelly Lewis Burrell, Lee Sullins and John Michael Lewis. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203, with Deborah Conner of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
