Obituary of Joan Ham

Joan Hoover Ham Mrs. Ham, 57, of Charlotte, went to rest in peace after a courageous six year battle with Multiple Myeloma, early Wednesday morning, July14, 2010. She went to join her husband Dub, who passed away on January 30, 2010. Joan was born on December 28, 1952, a daughter of Ann Cotter Hoover and the late J. Preston Hoover. She graduated from N.C. State and began her career in accounting as aC.P.A. Later, Mrs. Ham met and married the love of her life, Walter ?Dub? Ham. Together, she and dub pursued a screenwriting certificate at U.C.L.A. in Los Angeles. In honor of Dub, she was in the process of writing the Dub book, ?Dub-A Love Story Involving Care-giving, (Fronto-Temporal Dementia) and God.? We celebrated their twenty fourth wedding anniversary on July 5, 2010, a union of heaven and earth. Joan believed the Catholic Charismatic Renewal was magnificent and phenomenal. She is survived by her loving mother, Ann Hoover; siblings, Fr. John Vianney Hoover, Ann ?Pan? Self, Leo Hoover and his wife, Carol, Claire Morrison and her husband, Phil and Mary Hoover; nieces and nephews, Shelley (caregiver), Chris and his wife, Amber and their son, Brody, Ray and his wife, Amy, Sarah and her husband, Andrew, and Michael and Anna; and step-sons, Sean and his wife, Jackie and Eric and his wife, Miok. The family would like to thank Dr. David Miller and his staff and Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region for their special care for Joan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 16, 2010 at St. Gabriel?s Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211 with Father John Hoover and Father Francis O?Rourke concelebrants. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Charlotte. There will be a service on Thursday evening 6:00 July, 15, 2010 at St. Gabriel?s Church and the family will receive friends following. Memorials may be made to Dub Ham Foundation c/o P.O.
