Obituary of Lorena Bean

Lorena M. Bean Mrs. Bean, 87, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010, at her residence. She was born October 23, 1922, in Ralls County, Missouri, daughter of the late Jesse L. Menefee and Edith Gregory Menefee. Lorena was a graduate of Perry High School in Perry, Missouri and from Spencer Business College in Hannibal, Missouri. Mrs. Bean was a long time member of Avondale Presbyterian Church and the Aiken Sunday School Class. She retired from the YWCA after 25 years of service. Mrs. Bean was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Mr. Claude A. Bean and brothers, Frances Earl Menefee and Stanley Creed Menefee. Surviving Mrs. Bean are her three children, Philip W. Bean and wife, Alda, Claudia B. Shinn and husband, Hal and John L. Bean and wife, Monie; five grand children and eight great grand children. Funeral service for Mrs. Bean will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Avondale Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. John Earl officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening July 26, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and following the service at the church. Interment in Charlotte Memorial Garden was private.
