Obituary of Austin Wylie

Austin James (Jim) Wylie, Jr. Mr. Wylie, 88, of Charlotte, NC died August 2, 2010. He was the only child of Austin J. Wylie, Sr. and Charlotte Baker Wylie. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922 and was a graduate of Orange High School and Dyke College (now Chancellor University) in Cleveland. He attended Ohio State University as well. Jim served as a radio operator in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II patrolling the Aleutian Islands. He married Constance Ann Crawford in 1953, and was employed by EBCO Manufacturing from which he retired after 20 years as District Sales Manager. He and his family were parishioners of St. Ann Catholic Church where he was an active member. Jim is survived by his wife Connie, their daughters Kathy Jo Auten and Karen Ann Donaldson; son-in-law, Richard Auten; grandchildren, Nicholas, Kathryn and Megan Auten, and Laura, Leigh, and Eric Donaldson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010. Preceding the Mass, a rosary will be said at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Luke?s Catholic Church in Mint Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Ave. Charlotte, NC 28203.
