Obituary of Mildred Berry

Mildred Williamson Berry Mrs. Berry, 93, of Charlotte, passed away August 7, 2010 at Sunrise on Providence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Williamson Jr., on February14, 1971 and her second husband Guy A. Berry, on February20, 1992 and her only daughter, Carol Patterson, on June 7, 2007. Born June 7, 1917, in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of James Ray & Emily Durham Barkalow. She graduated from Central High School in Charlotte, NC. Mildred loved raising her three children and helping to run the family business with her husband Joe. For a period of time, she also worked for Pyramid Life Insurance in Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Berry was a very active person who enjoyed water skiing, fishing at the Outer Banks, golf, and entertaining family & friends. She was a member of Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Mildred is survived by her sons, Joseph N. Williamson III and wife, Sandra of Lawrenceville, GA; Edward L. Williamson and wife, Sheila of Charlotte, NC; sister, Lib Shuman and husband, Don of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Kristine Britt and husband Timothy, Karen Pratt and husband Ed, Tim Williamson, Greg Williamson, Russell Ewing and wife Courtney and Doug Patterson; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Samantha Britt and Lyza Ewing and many dear nieces and nephews. Mildred's family would like to extend a special thanks to her friend and caregiver, Diana Robinson. To all of her caregivers and friends at Sunrise on Providence we want to thank you for your support and love. Also, thanks to Hospice and Palliative Charlotte Region for the good care and support in her last days. A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 14, 2010 in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins and Whittington with her niece the Reverend Betsy Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
