Obituary of Ethel Elwood

Margaret Ethel Dixon Elwood Mrs. Elwood, 86, of Charlotte, NC, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. She was born January 9, 1924, in Cleveland, County, NC daughter of the late Butler and Fannie Whisnant Dixon. Ethel was retired from Belks Department Stores with over 25 years of service. She was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her church friends. Ethel also loved the outdoors, going out to eat and reading. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, who will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Leroy and three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Margie E. White and husband, Ronnie; son, Dennis F. Elwood; sisters, Ruby Sides and Nell Jones; grandchildren, Justin White and wife Holly and Lindsay Hartsell and husband, Shaun and great-grandchildren, Brody and Memphis White and Talan Hartsell. A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday evening August 16, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service.
