Obituary of Anne Murphy

Anne Robinson Murphy Mrs. Murphy, 86, of Charlotte, NC, died on Sunday, September 5, 2010 after a year of declining health. She was born in Charlotte on April 25, 1924, daughter to the late Carl Manley Robinson and Mary Hardin Robinson. She graduated from Charlotte Central High School in 1941. On July 13, 1944 she married the young and handsome Army Air Force pilot, John Holmes Murphy of Gadsden, Alabama, who was serving at the time in the North African theatre of World War II. He later attained the rank of major in the United States Air Force. Major Murphy died in Charlotte on September 25, 2005. In their marriage of 51 years, Major and Mrs. Murphy lived and traveled all over the world. They had four children to whom Mrs. Murphy dedicated her life. She is survived by her children, Michael Murphy of Long Beach, North Carolina, Laura Murphy Frankstone and her husband, David of Chapel Hill, James Murphy of Selaphum, Thailand, and Lynn Murphy and his wife, Lisa of Charlotte. She had five grandchildren, Julie, Kate, Cecelia, Chance, and Tyler; and four great-grandchildren, John Michael, Stephanie, Candace and Jonas. Mrs. Murphy was witty, beautiful, graceful and courageous. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with an intensity and devotion that they reciprocated.
