She is survived by her only son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Betty Hunter of Charlotte, five grandchildren and their families, including six great-grandchildren and several cousins and nieces. Kathryne was born May 11, 1916 and raised in Gainesville, Florida where she met James Richard Hunter, her beloved husband of 46 years, while he was a student at the University of Florida. They married in 1936 and their only child was born a few years later in Tallahassee, Florida. Kathryne worked for the Railway Express Agency during WWII while Richard was overseas. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her keen wit and great sense of humor as well as her love of travel and reading. She was a true Southern lady whose passions were her morning newspaper and University of Florida football. After Richard died, she enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, especially her daughter-in-law as well as trips to Litchfield Beach with family and friends. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 16th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Dilworth United Methodist Church. She will be buried at a later date beside Richard in Maggie Valley.
