Obituary of Van Manus

Van Lee Manus, Jr. Mr. Manus, 81, of Charlotte, NC, died at his residence on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. A Charlotte native Mr. Manus was born March 30, 1929, son of the late Van Lee Manus, Sr. and Gertrude Whitworth Manus. Van was retired from Lance Packing Company with over forty five years of service. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Manus loved baseball and coached Little League Baseball for many years. Van enjoyed fishing in the Catawba River and he loved his dog, Pebbles. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret Foard Manus; sons, Bobby W. Manus and Michael L. Manus and wife, Terri all of Charlotte, NC; sister, Louise Parker of Ocean Springs, MS; grandson, Michael Dulin and wife, Melissa; granddaughter, Jennifer Pressley and three great grandchildren all of Clover, SC. Also surviving are two nieces. A service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday evening, October 14, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service with the family receiving friends following the service until 9:00 PM. A committal service will be in the Ritch Cemetery in Indian Trail, NC on Friday, October 15, 2010, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the requests that memorials be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5338 Nations Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217.
