I just read about Ben's passing in the Deerfield alumni magazine, and it was a hard blow. Even at prep school he had a graciousness and sweet nature that set him apart from the other fellows. He was a good friend and a wonderful teammate, and I'll hold tight to his memaory.

Please accept my condolances on your loss of a wonderful guy. I have not seen Ben since our Deerfield days, but my memory is clear as to who he was, and I suspect that never changed. He was friendly to all, he stuck by his convictions and was a solid, caring person. I admired him at school for who he was off the field, and enjoyed the few times I got to see him on the field. Please let his children know that he was as fine a person as the Lord ever created.Sincerely,Paul DiMaggio

To Ben's Family and Friends -I have not seen Ben since Deerfield graduation, but he lives brightly in my memories. We were dorm-mates our junior year at DA. Ben had a great sense of humor and a real warmth. I did not have the privilege of playing on the athletic fields with Benjie since he played "Quid Sports," and I did not, but I remember him as a great athlete and competitor. Since Deerfield, Ben has lived only in my memories and will continue to without any diminishment, but my heart goes out to those whose loss is very real and current. Red Jahncke DA '68

Brandon,I am so sorry about the death of your brother. You have had so many losses in your family, but fortunately the memories you have of all the good times will never die. I know Ben was blessed to have you as a brother, and I hope you can find comfort in that. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his girls. Take care,Frances
