Obituary of Catherine Curlee

Catherine Elizabeth Curlee Mrs. Curlee, 85, of Charlotte, died on October 21, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital-Matthews. She was born on August 26, 1925 in Charlotte, NC, daughter of the late Clarence and Della Burris. Mrs. Curlee was a member of Eastway Christian Church, where she served as Trustee, Deacon and Historian. She was also a charter member of First Christian Church of Charlotte. Mrs. Curlee was a member of the Mint Hill Historical Society as well as the Mint Hill Garden Club. She was a leader in the business world, working as a Manager in the Data Processing Division of PYA Monarch Company before they were bought by Sara Lee Corp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Cullen Curlee. Mrs. Curlee is survived by her daughter, Marsha Curlee Beard; grandson, Adrian Beard III and his wife, Sonya; granddaughter, Kerry Kozar and her husband, Jonathan; and great-grandchildren, Adrian Beard IV, Nathan Kozar, Catie Kozar, Colin Beard, and Caroline Kozar. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 25, 2010 at First Christian Church, 1200 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203 with Pastor Jolin Wilks McElroy, officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4700 Beatties Ford Rd. Charlotte, NC 28216. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203.
