Obituary of Doris Hill

Doris R. Hill Mrs. Hill, 80, died Saturday, October 23, 2010, surrounded by her family. She loved and was loved by her children and grandchildren and all the extra ones with refrigerator privileges. Doris enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and bird watching. Christmas and Halloween were her favorite holidays and she loved decorating for them. As both of Doris? parents were deaf, she was lead to a career as a natural interpreter for the deaf. She interpreted at CPCC and in the community for more than 50 years, including 20 years of coordinating the annual Deaf Awareness Day at Carowinds. Doris was a member of Plaza Presbyterian Church and The American Legion Post 380 Women?s Auxiliary. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald W. Hill, Sr., son, Jerry H. Hill; daughter, Lynn H. Cobb and father, Alex B. Rosen. She is survived by daughter, Marty Padula and husband Art of Gulfport, Fl.; son, Wesley Hill and wife Betsy; daughter, Sue Greeno and husband, Steve and daughter, Merry Phillips all of Charlotte. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Charles Cobb, Gavin Greeno, Seth & Morgan Phillips all of Charlotte, Alicia Clark and Heather Holmes and great-granddaughter Brittany Holmes of Gulfport, Fl. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in the Dilworth Chapel of Hankins & Whittington with the Reverend Thomas G. Tate of Plaza Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery West. Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Rd., Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210.
